9/22/2008 Ready to startWe have a base model Hi-Def camcorder and will be shooting in the upcoming weeks. We should be putting the first clip up on YouTube this weekend or next. We're going to announce all new clips here as they get close to completion. -HMN 9/15/2008 Chomping at the bitWe got a few test videos up on YouTube and they are getting a few hits. It looks like the camera will be ordered Friday, and we are more than ready for it. Aaron wants me to put up a Facebook page, so I'll work on that next weekend. Once the camera is enroute, we can finally get serious and get some real substance out there. BTW...most of it wont go to YouTube. That's just for previews and teaser clips. (What? you thought this was gonna be free? LMAO!) - HMN 9/10/2008 Youtube space is upThe HMN Youtube account has been created and we put a test video up. I may do a few more until the camera gets here to relieve the boredom of not having anything else to do. I may even entertain requests.....just for test video purposes. Sent me a link to a video clip, and we'll put a HMN spin on it.- HMN 9/7/2008 Hanna was weakJust like most women I know...Hanna was all blow and no personality. We had winds around 30 MPH and some rain, but nothing to be alarmed about. We had some leaves and twigs laying about...that's all the damage I could find. I ordered a hood for the camera and a clacker, but the camera will wait until Friday. Why did I start this effing blog before we had all our equipment? People are gonna think I'm unstable or something. Well actually....nevermind.
I'm ordering the camera from somewhere close to MD. There is a store in Philly that will deliver overnight, or I could just go get it....only an hour drive. Hurricane Hannah should keep me stuck in the house all day Saturday....sigh.
If I don't post an entry Saturday or Sunday...I'm sitting in the dark staring at my cat.- HMN 9/4/2008 The waiting gameNothing new to report, except that the first 3 projects are done...just waiting for the camera. We'll probably have it or order it next week. We can't wait to start shooting. Once Hurricane Hannah passes thru Maryland, we got a green light. We will be dealing with it all day Saturday it seems. Waiting like this is like watching old people f*ck.....it's slow and something I just don't want to deal with. -HMN 9/3/2008 Well......this could suck.Just when all was looking well.....Hurricane Hannah will visit us on Saturday. The camera was to be ordered on Friday, but depending on the strenght of Hannah, I may wait until it passes to prevent any loss of equipment in transit.
I really wanted to shoot our first project this weekend.....F***!
Things are really coming together. Hannah better not blow too hard. - HMN 9/2/2008 DC Independant Film FestivalJust a goal of ours is to have a short film accepted into the 2009 DC Independant Film Festival. We need to have something under 15 minutes long, professionaly mastered on DVD and a certificate of copyright ownership by November 15th 2008.
Piece of cake, right? There will be thousands of entries and only the best will be chosen. Is the artsy world ready for our brand of humor? I f*ucking doubt it, but we have nothing to lose by trying. Who knows? Maybe we might ACTUALLY WIN something, god forbid! Call it getting our feet wet in the film fest world. It's not a huge festival like Teluride or Cannes, but is big enough to see exactly where we rate on the food chain of local film makers.
We have two concepts for the entry and have time to get it done and let the cards fall as they may. We're getting a few hits daily here, but no comments or questions. I honestly think we'll get busy on here once the YouTube stuff is released. Give us a few weeks and we'll have something...we promise. - HMN
9/1/2008 Where we are right nowRight now we are finalizing scripts for some parodies and a few shorts. We're taking baby steps to see how we're accepted on the net. We plan to put our first few projects on Youtube with standard definition and possibly the Hi-def stuff will go on Limewire. At least that's the plan right now.
We could have used a Wal-Mart camcorder and had garbage video quality like most crap available on Youtube. We opted for a pro-sumer Canon hi-def camera that shoots 24p cinematic mode for amazing Hollywood style looks. We will have the camera next week, should all go right. We edit with Sony Vegas and Acid Pro and have a backup plan if we suck at editing....a company that does color correcting and mastering at our disposal. We have a company lined up to PRESS (not burn to DVD R) and will have a compilation DVD on Amazon.com, CDnow.com, Waldenbooks.com, VirginMega.com, Target.com and Borders.com when we get enough good material.
The plan is to do some 30 second to 1 minute parodies of commercials and then move up to 30 minute short subjects to submit to film festivals. We'll keep you posted on how it all plays out. This isn't 3 lame ass guys just deciding to shoot random stuff in the backyard. It's actually about 2 years of talk and a year of saving money and planning, but HMN is about to become a reality. Enjoy the ride.....bring a barf bag - HMN 8/31/2008 Get to know HMN HMN is a group of three guys who honestly believe Hollywood is out of ideas. All movies have to follow a set of rules that are strictly enforced by the powers that be (You know who we're talking about) and anyone who strays from the formula immediately become outcasts and must reside in film making Siberia.
We don't give a rat's ass about any of those pre-conceived notions and there is nothing sacred...no taboo we wont touch. Our comedy is ignorant and uncaring of anyones feelings and the more you complain about the content, the worse we'll get. Hate mail and threats only encourage us. Flame on.
One thing we will never be called is PC. Our comedy is a niche that appeals to people who think that an old lady falling down 5 flights of stairs with 4 bags of groceries is funny. If you can laugh at Dick Cheney shooting a lawyer in the face .....we offer your type of funny.
Tom will be maintaining this blog personally and Aaron and Shortie will make entries as they can. We will call this our official site until a website is deemed necessary. We have a Myspace, but I hate it. Myspace is for teenagers and child molesters...which one are you?
